Injectables

What are injectables?

Injectables can be classified as anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. As made obvious by the title “injectables” these treatments are injected into the skin.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections or muscle relaxing injections are injected into a muscle where it inhibits the ability for the muscle to contract. Results are usually becoming more apparent from 2-4 days however full effect from treatment is not visible until 7-10 days. The results are not permanent as the nerve pathway which was weakened by the injections will sprout new nerve endings after 3-4 months meaning the results will last on average 3-4 months.

Traditional areas which can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections include:

  • Forehead lines (frontalis)
  • Frown lines (glabella)
  • Crow’s feet (orbicularis oculi)

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are an aesthetic gel which is injected just below the skin’s surface. These injections are used to reduce the appearance of volume loss, wrinkles and the signs of ageing. Most commonly used dermal fillers is for lip enhancement.

Dermal fillers commonly made up of collagen and hyaluronic acid which are naturally occuring substances within your body. As we age our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin which results in volume loss. When these substances are injected into your skin they attracts water to the area of the injection, which provides the area with an improvement in volume, wrinkles and the signs of ageing. Dermal fillers don’t just improvement volume within the injected site but also help to stimulate new collagen production

Commonly injected areas for dermal fillers include:

  • Cheeks
  • Marionette lines
  • Jowl lines
  • Smokers lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Smile lines
  • Lip enhancement
  • Jawline definition
  • Restore volume loss in hands and decolletage.

Dermal fillers can last between 6-18 months and this is dependant on the product injected, the area of treatment and your body’s reaction to the injections.
